By using a unique combination of behavioral science and mindfulness, our employee Retirement Transitioning Program facilitates improved self-awareness and emotional management as well as the tools to make clear, well-thought decisions, develop plans for retirement, and make steps to achieve set goals for a purposeful and happy retirement.

This interactive group course is designed to empower employees approaching retirement by providing them with the awareness, tools and support needed to make informed, confident decisions about their future.

Unlike traditional workshops, our Retirement Transition Program is designed to guide participants in creating a well-thought and actionable retirement plan. Participants also learn mindfulness-based practical skills to cope with the challenges, stress and changes. Our approach combines the latest in aging, behavioral and decision sciences with practical group work, ensuring that your employees are not just prepared but also empowered to transition into retirement smoothly and with confidence.

The program spans 5 sessions and 6 weeks, to give participants time and space for thorough reflection, discussions and planning.

Combining participants from different companies, the program allows participants to create a safe environment for discussions and, helps participants make new connections.

About the Program

What to expect

  • The whole program consists of 5 modules.

Module 1 sets an introduction into modern day aging and retirement transitions and module 5 consolidates the learnings of the course with a plan of action.

Modules 2-4 provide participants with tangible tools and exercises to navigate retirement transition: mindful approach to aging, understanding one's retirement plans and judgements and biases, evaluating options and opportunities for a purposeful retirement, and ultimately, creating an actionable plan for retirement transition.

  • Our program is designed for employees, who find themselves within about 5 years of retiring. This is usually the time, when people start thinking hard about their future plans, taking steps towards preparing themselves, and might experience worries about the uncertainty retirement might bring. Our program will provide retiring employees just the support they need, eliminating that sense of uncertainty and instilling confidence in their transition journey.

  • Five 2 hour workshops (with brakes) over the span of 6 weeks. All workshops are held online.

Participants will be recommended to spend 2-3 hours of reflections & assignments in between sessions.

30 min weekly guided meditations and check-ins are offered but non-obligatory

  • To best accommodate to the companies' varying situations, we offer tiered pricing options, depending on the number of participants a company signs up.

    • Up to 3 people, price per participant is EUR 990

    • Up to 8 people, a group price is EUR 5250

    • Above 8 to 20 max people, a group EUR 8250

We are happy to discuss options of running the program exclusive to a company. Please contact us for details.

On completion of this program, employees will walk away with:

  1. A deeper understanding of what it means to retire and age in the current times of longevity

2. Enhanced self-awareness of values, purpose, and current biases, thought, and behavioral patterns.

3.  New life-skills: Knowing what tools, skills and mindset allow us to grow older consciously, purposeful, compassionate and resilient.

4.  Personal retirement plan that aligns with their unique values and goals, ensuring a smooth and confident transition into retirement.

5.  Strong sense of community. The shared experiences and collective wisdom of the “transition buddies” will help keep the participants motivated and on track – very likely even long after the program is over.

Course details

  • A comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of retirement and aging process. We will look at the biologically, psychologically and socially aspects in the current circumstances and investigate different retirement models. We will also get to know each other in the group, and get a brief introduction to the unique approach of behavioral science and mindfulness.

  • For any transition to happen consciously, we need to first gain insight into who we are and what we want to transition into. We will reflect on changes in identity and purpose, using mindfulness to navigate emotions and connecting with physical sensations in the body. Participants will then be led through a self-assessment process to map out their strengths, passions, financial situation, and the opportunities available.

  • This module is focused on breaking down your plans and decisions about how to occupy your time in retirement. It will address common cognitive biases and decision-making challenges that can impact retirement planning. Participants will learn ways to overcome decision paralysis as well as ways to regulate and respond mindfully to difficult emotions such as fear, uncertainty, anger and grief.

  • Participants are now able to look ahead and develop a clear vision and purpose for their retirement. We will talk about the importance of having meaning and purpose in life and how to avoid the retirement void.

Participants will create a vision statement and start to identify practical and achievable goals within their current circumstances. The session also explores the importance of social connections and relational well-being in retirement and participants will learn ways to to build and maintain meaningful relationships using behavioral and mindfulness strategies.

  • The participants will be guided through the creation of a detailed, actionable retirement plan that encompasses all key aspects of their transition. Capitalizing on all the insights and knowledge you’ve gained throughout the program and together with your “transition buddies” you will confidently develop a plan for your retirement transition, and will even take first steps towards this new journey.
